Folks,
If this bill text passes, there will be a backlog center for all our I-140/I-485 petitons. We are limited by 90,000. Has anybody found any new relief for BEC candidates?
They are allocating supplemental greencard numbers for Z visa holders with a flexible limit and this supplemental allocation will go away once all Z visa holders adjust (end of page 287 and beginning of page 288).

I have been on a H4 visa for the last 3 yrs now and it's terribly frustrating...having always worked before that. But it isn't true that there aren't any takers for the H4 visa cause! Shivali Shah (who is an immigration advocate) and her organization have been working really hard for the rights of H4 visa holders. Check out her website...she's doing some great work!

is the date of the approval of the EAD renewal or is the day after the expiry of the current one?
Can the folks who got theirs approved recently answer? Maybe we will know in a few days once they have their EADs in their hands.....

I guess by the end of FY-11, EB2 cutoff will reach Dec 2006 or early 2007.. but movement from there on would be slow as many are started porting now.. In any case I don't there will be more than 10K porting per year.. If porting exceed more than 10K, EB2 progress will be slow.. Good luck to all

I have made a post. Please confirm if yours was exactly the same case " subsitution"--leading to 2 applicants seeking same labor and me being left with no I140 since previous employer revoked.
Based on your post, I am hopeful that my MTR gets accepted too. Could you answer the other questions I have raised that relate to post-MTR phase.

I finally received my I485 denial notice. I had to make 4 infopass appointments to get the letter. My attorney hasn't yet got it. I will be filing for MTR and sending the request to Ombudsman per another thread on this forum.
Was curious if others have the following in their denial notice:
last paragraph:"There is no appeal for this decision" This decision is without any prejudice to any future I485 application that you may file....blah blah.."
They have quotedsection 245 immigration and nationality act [8 USC 12s5]..states " underlying visa petition upon which seek permanant residence has been revoked...blah blah"
Is this pretty standard?

I doubt if the house is going to toe the senate line on the CIR. The new bill that has been introduced in the House is seen as a rebuke to Bush, directly contradicting the Senate version. I think this CIR will be killed in the house if it somehow passes the Senate.

The only thing they have said is "Illegal immigration is a problem and we need support of 70 Republicans to schedule an immigration bill". That's it. Nothing new. Good news for some and not so good news for others. I have been waiting for my labor for last 4 years and have still not got the approval on hand. So I am not ready to apply for 485. Where as a friend of mine who came to US last year and applied for labor through perm 2 months back has his approved labor and can apply for 485. I feel this is kind of unfair. The dates should have progressed slowly but steadily instead of trying to create a mad rush now.

I was under the impression that unused visas of one category ( EB/F ) may be used for the other category ( F/EB ) for the next year.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also I have no idea what that number exactly is. It is pbly somewhere in the uscis ombudsman report. Just too lazy today morning to look it up :D

Dear Members,
We have worked hard in the last 4 years and have made some progress along the way Immigration Voice Achievements (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5&Itemid=47) But Most of us are still in the limbo of green card process and waiting in different stages. Some of us may have advanced to the I-485 stage and have a little more career flexibility but the hanging sword of uncertainty still looms over our heads.
Our angst, our insecurity:
Even with EAD and other options, lack of green card is lack of security and lack of certainty. You know it and you feel it every day. In order to find a permanent fix for the uncertainty, angst and insecurity and in order to snap out of the probationary lifestyle and career, we have to finish what we started over 4 years ago -- get the U.S. Congress to act on this problem and solve it once and for all.
Early effort wins:
The first agenda of next Congress will be immigration and we expect an immigration bill to be debated sometime in early 2011. However, it would be a big mistake to wait until that time to do something about that bill. Successful advocacy efforts are the ones that start early and introduce concepts and ideas into the debate before the legislators write their first draft. Once the committee hearings and debates begin, it is harder to get changes or fixes into a bill because it requires an amendment to the bill in a politically charged and heated atmosphere. Groups and organizations that wait until the last minute to influence members of congress often fail to achieve results. In order to succeed in next year's immigration bill, we have to begin talking to members of congress now. Remember, the advocacy efforts we did with lobby day and rally in Sept 2007 influenced congress to include our provisions in bipartisan bills introduced in Aug 2008. Legislative things take time.
How you can help:
You and help in two different ways:
Join the advocacy effort in DC on June 7th and 8th. (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum85-action-items-for-everyone/1437978-iv-announcement-advocacy-days-in-washington-dc-7th-and-8th-june.html) If you have never done this before, we encourage you to help us with this and join us. Immigration voice will arrange the logistics of setting up meetings and arranging the material for you to take to your Congressmen and Senators. We are expecting about 150 immigration voice members to gather in DC and participate in over 200 meetings with Congressmen and Senators.
Contributing Funds to help finance the effort (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/forum85-action-items-for-everyone/1534974-funding-drive-iv-needs-your-support-for-advocacy-events-in-dc.html). You are most welcome to come to DC and join us but if your job demands are such that you cannot take two days off on June 7th and 8th, then you can still contribute to this effort by contributing financially to Immigration Voice.
