The problem I see with Los Angeles is the high population of illegals. Any thing here looks like pro-illegal.
Doing the rally in other cities in Los Angeles County or Orange County is the media visibility that we can get.

I just spoke to Congressional office and this is what she has to say:

I just spoke with our liaison at the Nebraska office and she confirmed that your motion to reopen was approved on Friday (05/15/2009). That, I am told, means Nebraska agrees to re-examine your I-485 denial and a decision should be forthcoming within 60 days. I suggest that we wait to see what that decision is before our office initiates any formal inquiries with the USCIS Nebraska Director.

But she agreed that my second MTR might have been on sidelines and the congressional office inquiry into the matter could have influenced USCIS to review my case ( probably with a supervisor) immediately. She told me that she would put another inquiry with NSC in 4 weeks if nothing comes up. Finally we have decided to forgo (just for now) the process of writing letter to the NSC Director as it might not add much weight to the process, as congressional office would be repeating the same argument that my Attorney has made regarding the AC21, which a supervisor is already looking at.
I have already waited for 3 months. Another 2 months might take its toll on my emotional drain.

That is a standard message. Basically yur 485 has been reopened. Unless your priority date is current there is nothing much they can do, but if there is a need for RFE, they will send you RFE.

I would suggest, if we have 4-5 people per day for 31 days do the hunger strike. This will have a greater impact than just 1 day of hunger strike. The day should be strategized to match with the opening of the Congress session in 2007.

Sharing what I read on IV - some members reported their 140 status reverted to 'pending' along with a recent LUD when their ex-employer revoked already approved 140. In your case, status is not changed. Keep an eye on status. Hopefully, CIS will not do another wrongful denial, crossing my fingers. Best Luck bro!

Me and my wife's 485s had LUDS on 2/18, 2/19 and 2/20. But no status change, and we know for sure we should be getting atleast one RFE. When we applied in July 07 we could not include my Wife's medical/vaccination reports with the application, but no RFE for that yet.
Usually an RFE or FP notice should arrive within 4-8 days after generation. There is no guarantee that the LUD change means anything until you see the notice in your hand.

I keep hearing that DOL has allocated more resources to entering data. Does it really take so much effort to perform data entry. One of our customer is a large multinational company that has hired a few interns to convert huge stacks of paper files into electronic format by manually entering data into the system. These paper files go back decades, and these 5-6 interns have been making great progress.
In contrast, how long does it take to enter 300K cases into the system? Besides, if they have hired about 100 additional people or so, why are they using case reviewers to enter data? Can't they use interns to perform such low-skill job while continuing to use reviewers to perform their primary task?
My company recently interviewed a fresh computer science college graduate who is working with DOL in entering data. I wish we had hired him so that I could talk to him more about his job duties there.

Many H1s like me have their non-working spouses on H4 visa who are not given SSNs. Do we not pay taxes ? Do we not pay Social security ? We do, and therefore we should also be eligible for the Stimulus package. Indeed my son is autistic and disabled but we are not eligible for any kind of aid but we pay tons of taxes and social security. It is highly non-justified think. I have home loan with Standard Chartered. Got the variable interest loan from them in 2004. One thing I liked is I did not have to goto India for the loan processing!
My brother sent related documents here in US and I signed, got few of those notarised and sent them back. It took about a month for the complete process.
They do charge about Rs. 350 for prepayment though. Otherwise overall I am happy with the service they provided.
