    There is a possibility that
    - approval notice might be lost in mail
    - uscis misplaced her file

Check with uscis what happened to her application for transfer and you might have to contact attorney depending on uscis' answer.

Thanks for your reply, zico123. I checked the online status and it shows the case is still pending. That doesn't matter. She has a valid status now. The question is that how long she can work for the new company B while the application is pending? Thanks.

Yeah, let's ban everyone. Everyone should rejoice with you, because your body-shop employer won't be able to take advantage of you for much longer...

    You should be banned again.

People who feel happy at other people's sorrows don't deserve here. Today in the moment of happiness you only came to spoil the mood and want sympathy from everyone. Your previous posts were VERY offensive. Do not act innocent. I saw them saddistic remarks.

Infact a lot of backlog center people started posting offensive remarks and showed happiness when dates became unavailable. I will never support you guys after what I saw from you as reactions.

With you buddy, if they are getting benefit that easily or they getting in our way. i have no problem if illegals get GC if they pay back-taxes equal to the average amount paid by legals + fine for breaking law and stand in the line behind us.

You get what you pay for, in a way.

I am indifferent towards AI since I have traveled only once on AI & my experience was reasonable.

However, I found this article in TOI today -

NEW DELHI: In a show of compassion towards a bereaved passenger who had to rush to Chennai but was short of cash, Air India officials at the Indira
Gandhi International airport here pooled in money to pay for his ticket.

M Pandian, 40, had lost one of his dear ones in Chennai and reached IGI airport in the morning with a hope of getting a seat in any of the low-cost carriers.

"After reaching airport, he tried to get a ticket in the low-cost carriers, but the timings and the ticket prices did not suit him," an airport official said.

With the hope of getting a low fare ticket on an Air India flight, he reached the ticketing counter where he found the ticket price to be Rs 5,059.

As he had just Rs 4,200 in cash and had no ATM or credit card, Air India officials present at the spot came to his rescue and pooled the deficit amount of Rs 800 to pay for his ticket on flight IC-429 for Chennai.

Pandian profusely thanked them for their humanitarian gesture and took the flight.

Yeah! sure............. in America you take things and nothing is given to you..........Have any of you guys heard of students protesting tuition increases. Have you really heard of young folks protesting about anything. Folks like Jack Nicholson can say a lot of things but I'm sure I wouldn't depend on him for intellectual sustenance.

I would request that you find a statement from a better role model before starting such a superficial thread.

    - don't forget the rental real estate lobby - have to sign a lease, if you move out of state or if you leave job or even if u get laid off - u have to pay 3 months in rent and 30 days notice (varies). It happened to me in florida.

I can't believe there are so "apartment community" specific benefits. 3 months rent even after 30 days notice. OMG.

    I just got laid off.

I am an EB2 (Jul 15, 2007 priority date). I jointly filed my I-140/I-485 5 months ago (1 month inside the 6 month period to become 'portable'). I was at Merrill Lynch; they said they do not typically inform immigration of laid off employees and the lawyers feel that I should still be able to get my I-140/I-485 (hence, my greencard) desp. They said, due to the current economic conditions (and subsequent large numbers of layoffs) US immigration is not to 'stick'y on the 6 month requirement for portability.

Does this sound plausible? Is there anything I need to be aware/careful of? Does it seem likely I will need to start my greencard (PERM) process from the beginning again?

Your knowledge is urgently appreciated. Many thanks!!

Some non-IT companies would not sponsor H-1B visas because of unwanted complex process/paper work or they can not compete for visas filed left and right by big companies. The job is not going to wait for the visa availability. Please stop nonsensical, insensitive posts without knowing the reality and frustrations.

I think a change of leadership of IV is critical if we have to get anywhere. IV has not been able to achieve a single thing in all of its existence. Not a single thing, nada, zitto, zapata. Not disclosing the issues they are working on, not disclosing how the funds are distributed, not disclosing the lobbyist they are using. Who in the world calls that leadership!

That is the reason that no one wants to contribute. First get some results, show people results for what they have paid for. Then ask for more money. Most people I talk to are confident that IV will achieve nothing given their track record. I tried to convince a colleague to join IV. He bet with me that they will not be able to achieve even this filing I-485 issue. He bet that he will join and pay if they did.

I know IV works like dIVorced wIVes club and saying anything negative is taboo. Anyone saying anything negative is crushed with (p)curses. Only good mushy things are allowed here. So here it is: We will get our GCs by the end of the month. Hallelujah!

But I am writing this for the benefit of IV and please take this as constructively as you can. As a member, I have full right to suggest a change of leadership when I think it can help.

    Nice to hear from you.
Pls. update your profile so that you are not an annonymous member and can talk to you. We definately want your leadership skills and abilities since you have been with IV for past one year and seen how we have grown and struggled to reach where we are now. Do come to DC and help us. We need people like you to help us run around and meet lawmaker offices, contact other organizations, contact employers, communicate with IV members, manage forums, contact and manage media efforts, manage funds, manage lobbying efforts with the lobbyists, go to conferences and meetings to give presentations or to simply meet people hoping for help for our cause etc etc.

We are just overwhelmed with so many tasks and most of the above tasks happen during business hours. So we find it increasingly tough to manage both our jobs and IV work. We are trying to do all the above and have requested all members to actively participate in at least their state chapters to help us out. I am sure you must have successfully led your state chapter, met all your lawmakers from your state, contacted your employer for support and have enough management experience and drive to get something done.

Please contact us and we will be happy to discuss this exciting possibility with you.

    Thanks

As SKIL Bill is in both house (Congress & Senate), couple of co-sponsers/strong supporters in both house and probably easy to convince Senators/Congressmen compared to CIR, I am wondering what is IV's strategy (QGA) to push this bill?

I too have question on similar lines, probably it may have been already answered, i did not get a chance to see it.

    Which one is correct?

    Receipt date = Processing Date
    Notice Date = Processing Date

can somebody explain the meaning of "processing date for I-485"? For example, the Texas service center has July 17 2007 processing date for I-485 petitions.

    How to interpret that?

    Thanks.

eb3 guys need to move on to a new job and get the i140 ported to eb2. Do not depend on VB luck. You have more chances of hitting the lotto jackpot rather than getting lucky for PD to move.

Lobbying by IV is a great effort but do not think anything will happen for another 4 years. No CIR until the economy comes out of recession. Neither this nor the incoming President will have the guts to pass it through. And even if the CIR becomes a possibility after 4 years, you do not know in what form it going to take shape. The way I see, they will be more anti-H1B restrictions being passed before CIR comes to the floor. I won't be surprised if they say unless you have a US degree, you can't work in US. That will screw up a whole ot of NIV guys. Ofcourse it will also help a whole ot too. But point is do what is in your hands. Always have a backup plan.

If you say its was easy for me to say this, trust me the current one is the third labor filing. First being eb3. Just quit because I didnot like the group.

Lot of us are happy with the new VB but the call campaign continues. Its very important. We still have lot of work to do.

We have to get the 3 immigration bills introduced with bi-partisan support.
